Black Women's Organization Plans Women's
Leadership Summit

Violator Management President, Mona Scott. One of the women featured in this year's summit

The National Association of Black Female Executives in Music and Entertainment (NABFEME), a network of the music and entertainment industry's top executives, announced recently that they plan to throw their 5th Annual International Women's Leadership Summit.

During the event, some of the industry's most successful female entrepreneurs are set to tackle technology, piracy, moral responsibility and the many other issues that present a risk to the music and entertainment industry.

From entry to senior management levels, women from around the globe are expected to attend the summit at the Hilton Charlotte Center City in Charlotte, North Carolina from October 3rd to the 7th. The three day event will include informative panels, career development workshops, and exclusive entertainment events, specifically customized for the female executive.

NABFEME has assembled an elite list of female power throughout the music and entertainment industry including Lorraine Bracco (actress HBO's "The Sopranos"), Lisa Ellis (Executive VP of Sony Music Group), Mona Scott (President of Violator Management), and Alexis Levi (basketball owner and CEO of the Las Vegas Stars). Additionally, brand strategist and publicity guru, L. Marilyn Crawford (President of Primetime Omnimedia) has been named the summit's ambassador.

"NABFEME's commitment to the creation of alliances that will assist attendees in achieving their personal and professional goals will be evident at our leadership summit," said Johnnie Walker, founder and President of NABFEME. "We will present the most powerful women in the entertainment industry, in an empowering and nurturing environment that will honor their achievements and allow them to discuss and share their experiences with their peers and our industry's future executives."

As a part of the event series, The Women's Leadership Summit will present its staple events: "Women Who Jam," an all female concert showcasing the talent of signed and unsigned female artists; and The Mentor Luncheon: A Salute to the Celebrity Mom, an event that honors mothers of today's top celebs. Last year, it featured presentations by Usher and Kanye West, and this year, NABFEME promises to uphold previous standards with the appointment of Roberta Shields, mother of Ludacris, and Donda West, mother of Kanye West and author, as co-chairpersons of this year luncheon.

Those interested in attending can register via NABFEME's website at NABFEME.org, and can also call 1-877-667-7213 (code NAF) for hotel rooms at the discounted rate.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT VERY GOOD

“A Change of Pace” and “I Hate It When It Gets Dark Early”

by Edward Pomerantz and “Come On” by Susan Charlotte

Lorraine Bracco, who is the psychiatrist on “The Sopranos,” appeared in all three one act plays. Now that her stint on the famous series is over, it is time for her to return to her roots: the theatre. She needs some reminding about projecting her voice; the microphone is no longer directly over her head! The plays by Edward Pomerantz about marriage were quite funny; the one by Susan Charlotte which also had John Shea in it was very clever; a story of an after-sex breakup with Shea only saying “come on” throughout was quite humorous. An enjoyable afternoon and one of their better programs. The lunch still was terrible! Can’t they have some type of casserole? Greek salad? tuna-pasta salad?

Campbell Steps Into Fashion Arena With Go Red Push
with Lorraine Bracco as their celebrity partner

Part of Soup Maker's Partnership With the American Heart Association       GoRedWithCampbells.com

By Stephanie Thompson -- January 30, 2007

NEW YORK (AdAdge.com) -- Turns out soup is more than just good food -- it's also a fashion statement.

Excerpts from the article ...

Bill Blass Creative Director Michael Vollbracht designed the products Campbell is selling to help support the American Heart Association.

Campbell, which has long featured red dresses in its ad campaigns,
has partnered with Bill Blass Creative Director Michael Vollbracht
to design the fashion products. Among the designer duds is a red
dress with a belt featuring a crystal Campbell's logo that will be
worn by actress Lorraine Bracco at this Thursday's Women's
Day Red Dress Awards
and will later be auctioned off at GoRedWithCampbells.com. The site will also sell T-shirts,
handbags and other items that feature a design Mr. Vollbracht
created (the design incorporates a can of Campbell Healthy Request soup and the AHA's Go Red theme, "Love your heart") ...

Ads in February issues of publications including Women's Day and Prevention support the T-shirt sale and the Go Red theme. Other publicity efforts include newspaper inserts and a segment with Ms. Bracco on NBC's "The Martha Stewart Show," which is set to air Feb. 2, the AHA's national Wear Red Day ...

Dress for health

Campbell's Soup is taking on heart disease. The company's 17 Healthy Request soups are "heart-healthy options," the company says. Perhaps a bit more fun, the company got Bill Blass designer Michael Vollbracht to design a special red dress. Lorraine Bracco, of "The Sopranos" fame, will show it off Thursday at the Woman's Day Red Dress Awards in New York. After the show, see the dress at www.goredwithcampbells.com. Like it? Go to eBay on Monday and start bidding. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign.

By HEMA EASLEY -- THE JOURNAL NEWS

Rockland Family Shelter's 26th annual auction.

 4:30 p.m. Sunday, December 4th

The Nyack Center, 58 Depew Ave.

Private cruises, lunch with celebrities, cooking classes at home and tickets to the New York Philharmonic or Radio City Music Hall will all come under the hammer at the Rockland Family Shelter's 26th annual auction on Sunday.

The event at the Nyack Center will benefit survivors of domestic, dating and sexual violence, and their family and friends.

"We need the funds to be able to provide the services we offer," said Candy Pittari, director of outreach community education for the shelter. "It's a great chance for people to come out and buy wonderful gifts at reasonable prices and support a very good cause."

According to statistics provided by the Coalition Against Domestic Violence, a state-funded organization based in Albany, nearly one in three women experience at least one physical assault by a partner.

Hospital emergency room data shows that women account for 84 percent of those seeking treatment for an intentional injury by an intimate. More than 50 percent of homeless women in America have fled domestic violence.

At Sunday's auction, guest auctioneer Lorraine Bracco, Dr. Melfi on HBO's "The Sopranos," will assist RFS board member Steven Abel and will offer for bid a lunch with her on the set of the television series.

Other items up for the live auction are an iPod signed by members of the band U2, tickets to the Tony award-winning "Putnam County Spelling Bee," private cruises of Long Island Sound and the Hudson River, cooking classes in your home, dinner for six at private clubs, tickets to the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall and gift certificates to restaurants and boutiques.

Also on the auction block are tickets to "Chita Rivera, The Dancer's Life," dinner at Danny's Grand Sea Palace, hockey tickets and a golf foursome. Music lovers may like Metropolitan's "Rigolettos" or the New York Philharmonic.

All items for auction have been donated to the Rockland Family Shelter free of cost, said Pittari. All proceeds will go to the Rockland Family Shelter, which provides services to approximately 2,200 woman annually.

The shelter offers free, confidential and multilingual services, including a 24-hour hotline, counselling, medical and legal services, and an emergency crisis shelter.

A $15 admission fee will include the auction catalog, refreshments and beverages.

'Sopranos' Star Gets Corked This Fall

Fox News Online

Get ready for a unique tie-in between a TV star and a product. Lorraine Bracco, who plays Dr. Melfi on "The Sopranos," is getting her own wine. Bracco Estates is the name of an Italian vintage that will have its debut in October. Made in Tuscany, Bracco Estates will offer at the very least a tasty Brunello. More details will follow this fall, after Lorraine gets back from meeting the owners of the winery where Bracco Estates will be bottled.

Bracco told me on Sunday at the premiere of Curtis Hanson 's new movie, "In Her Shoes" — which she attended with her brother Sal, family friends and sports equipment guru Jeffrey Modell — that she's in the middle of filming episode six of the new "Sopranos" season. But no one's mentioned the possibility of a seventh season yet, even though this column reported some months ago that there have been recent rumblings from creator David Chase.  "From your lips to God's ear," Bracco said. "No one wants it to end." Chase is probably in that category himself. According to the New York Post, he just signed a lease on an $18,000-a-month apartment on the Upper West Side. He also owns a home in the south of France. I'm told some incentive for a seventh season might be private plane rides back and forth from New York.   Sounds worth it to me.

Cindy Adams Gossip Column -- May 9, 2005
The New York Post

SO Lorraine Bracco - bless her "Sopranos" psychiatrist's head - is moving onward and forward. Also upward. Rising from the hoods, goons, goumbas and guys with no necks. Going literary, the woman is. Doing a memoir book, she is, which has just been sold to Putnam. Like Lorraine herself, it's honest, funny and sharp.
